Clare & Rob’s Queenstown Cecil Peak Heli Wedding Elopement

Clare & Rob’s Story

“Rob and I first met at Auckland hospital, where I was on placement as a paramedic student and Rob was working. We hit it off instantly and started chatting online. Rob’s idea of a first date was a four day trip to Queenstown, I compromised on such a big leap and we decided to go to Ohakune (Mt Ruapehu) instead. We went with no expectations but had such a great time getting to know each other that we never stopped going on spontaneous adventures.

In winter 2020, on another ski trip, Rob popped the question on a walk to Washpen Falls”

What made you decide to elope for your Wedding Day?

“You know the story! Our initial plan was to marry in Ohakune where we had our first date, but now we’ve had time to reflect on what a marriage means to us, we think being together on top of a mountain somewhere sounds more us!”

What are you most looking forward to on the day?

“We just want a day where nothing else matters but us spending time together. It’s been a pretty stressful few years and having a day to feel a bit pampered and taken care of, where we can truly live in the moment is something we’re so looking forward to!”

Top Elopement Tips!

“It’s a bit of a chiche but the most important thing is to do what you feel is right for you, not be swayed but what you think you should do or what other people may think.”
